SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Gabrielle Union, Ryan Smith, and others shared their thoughts and excitement after the NBA legend Dwyane Wade became a part owner of the Utah Jazz.
Wade joined Smith and the ownership group of the Jazz on Friday, April 16.
After the news broke, the three-time NBA champion, his wife, and others shared their feelings about the move on social media.
“Legend, Leader, Businessman. Welcome to the Utah Jazz family,” the Jazz posted on the team’s official Twitter account.
The franchise also shared a photo of Wade standing next to Jazz owner Ryan Smith inside the organization’s practice facility.
Smith thanked Wade for joining the Jazz.
“.@DwyaneWade thanks for choosing Utah … just the beginning,” Smith tweeted.
Actress Gabrielle Union, who is married to Wade, shared her excitement on the ownership move.
Miami Heat owner Micky Arison expressed disappointment that Wade did not join his team’s ownership group. Wade played the majority of his hall of fame career with the Heat.
“I want to congratulate Dwyane on his recent announcement,” Arison tweeted. “We had discussed having him join our ownership group after his retirement but he was not prepared to commmit at the time. Of course I am disappointed that he didn’t reconsider.”
“Having said that I wish him good luck and much success with the Jazz. To me Dwyane will always be a HEAT lifer,” Arison continued.
Kyle Van Noy
Former BYU and current New England Patriots linebacker Kyle Van Noy congratulated Wade and Jazz owner Ryan Smith with a post on social media. Van Noy played in 2020 NFL season with the Miami Dolphins.
