SANDY, Utah – Real Salt Lake midfielder/forward Damir Kreilach scored the first goal at Rio Tinto Stadium of the 2021 season with a nice header.
The goal for RSL came in the 35th minute when Andrew Brody went up the right hand side and kicked the ball into the box, which met Damir Kreilach and he headed it in.
It leveled the match at one goal apiece as Sporting Kansas City scored earlier in the first half when Pulido found the back of the net in the 17th minute.
It’s the first goal of the 2021 season for Kreilach and the 27th of his MLS career. In the season opening win over Minnesota United FC last week, Anderson Julio scored two goals to give them the 2-1 win.
In 2018, Kreilach scored 12 goals in 33 matches played during his first season at Real Salt Lake. During the 2019 campaign, he had 6 goals in 32 matches. In the shortened 2020 season, Kreilach found the back of the net 8 times in 21 matches played.
10,000 fans are allowed to attend the home opener at Rio Tinto Stadium, while following health and safety protocols. The Claret and Cobalt is starting a three-match homestand. They will face San Jose on Friday, May 7 at 7:30 p.m. MDT on the KSL TV app and KSLSports.com.
